three things solve crimes

I read something that explains why this case is unsolved and likely to stay that way.
From the book
Homicide: A Year On The Killing Streets by David Simon.
“Three things solve crimes.
Physical evidence.
Witnesses.
Confessions.
Without one of the first two elements, there is little chance detectives will find a suspect capable of providing the third.”

One thing on POI's height..It has been revised upwards by a team of University of Florida math specialists, who used simple and effective trigonometry to come up with 5'8" to 6'0" Then you must add in an inch or two fudge factor, because with his super long stride, his head is lower than it would be if he were standing erect.
Good thinking, Larry. Hopefully the reward money will coax someone into being the fruitful witness....and if she is anywhere near Orlando, Danny the Canadian and his 4 K9 experts will find her.

Do you have a link to their findings? This is completely new to me and I think the rest of the world. For so long now everyone in Orlando has been on the lookout for a 5' 4" person. If this new height is considered to be more correct, word needs to get out there.

JD: fixed the last post, and as for the 6'0" POI (maximum) it is info that danny the Canadian shared with me just sort of out of the blue...but 5'4" definitely seems a bit short..always has to me..the math scholars have revised it to 5'8" to 6'0" tops, and OPD sort of accepts that...I will ask him if there is a link, but it would be a first!!

You know, I think they have the height just about right.
Looking at the roadway the POI walked down and estimating he was about 2' 0" to 2' 6" out from the curb the outer limit of the estimate (5' 5") looks okay in relation to the pool gate.
Also, note the car parked in the background of the first POI photo. He doesn't look particularly tall compared to the vehicle.
As I posted previously I remember seeing a video of the police at work calculating the POI's height.
There was a police woman taking the role of the POI and there was a long tape running from the camera to the ground some distance past the POI. They also had a large measuring pole for vertical measurements.
That's about all I remember apart from seeing several LE members there.
The FBI were involved in the calcuations too and it would be nice to think they helped getting it right.
I have wondered if LE ever organised a group of people of different heights to pass by that camera and then analyse how they looked in the photos.
I note the claim that trigernometry was used to revise the POI's height upwards. They would have needed information such as the height of the camera from the ground and the distance of the camera from the POI.
Did they have that information? And if they did how come the large variation from 5' 8" to 6' 0"?

Actually if I may say so; the whole initial 'height conjecture' of POI really pissed me off. I will assume that OPD told public that his height was in the range of 5"4-5"6 so quite naturally all are focused on this in the area.
Yet it doesn't take a genius to figure out that the surveillance camera at HOTG is high up and therefore naturally looks on the surrounding ground at an angle.
What a waste of time! I also thought when pouring through the video still by precious still that the wrought iron fence around the pool, likely would have been in the standard 6" range up to 10 feet depending on what fencing encloses.
And the feet are BIG...somewhere in the size 11 range....most people who have big feet (not 100 per cent) usually are tall; a genetic fact!
How could investigators who not only do so for a living but have so much more experience first-hand; not figure this out and have made this known to public in the very beginning??? It's one fact that makes my own blood boil!

While it is generally agreed the OPD could have performed better in the first few days of the investigation they appear to have put in a decent effort from then on.
From media reports the FBI played a role in the calculation of the POI's height. A typical report from the time is here:
"The height estimate came from the FBI, which worked with Orlando police.
As for other questions from the public and the media — did the person have a larger than expected foot for someone so short, was he/she wearing the uniform of a painter or kitchen worker — Ring declined to answer. Such comments, he said, could cause people to limit their impression of who the person of interest might be."
The post that started this thread, in my opinion, has the reasons this investigation has been stalled for a long time.
The reaons are:
No physical evidence
No witnesses
